Montana Meals July COTM: Fruitopia!
It’s officially summer, and that means plenty of delicious fresh fruit and vegetables are in-season and available at grocery stores and farmers markets. It also means that eating the recommended 5-9 servings of fruit and vegetables per day is a little easier and more appealing! This month’s challenge focuses on fruit: eat at least two servings of fruit per day. Here are some examples of a serving:
- 1 small or ½ large apple
- 16 grapes
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1 snack container of mixed fruit
- 1 medium slice of cantaloupe
All types of fruit count – Flathead cherries, garden fresh strawberries, banana mixed in a smoothie, canned pineapple, etc., so enjoy a wide variety of fruits this month. But sorry, fruit juice doesn’t count for this challenge! Successfully complete the challenge for 25 out of 31 days to be eligible for the prize drawing. To participate, download the July Log and submit your entries by sending it to wellness@montana.edu with ‘July Meals’ as the subject of your email. Entries are due by Friday, August 2nd.
Montana Moves July COTM: Be a Trailblazer!
Goodbye snow! Goodbye mud! It’s summertime in Montana and the hiking is limitless, even into the fresh alpine air. We know that you have some favorite trails you’ll be headed to, but this month we’re challenging you to branch out and blaze into some new territory as well. Pick a trail you’ve never done or always wanted to do, and snap a picture of yourself at the trailhead (or anywhere along the way), and tell us about the trail and if you liked it. Send your picture to wellness@montana.edu by Friday, August 2nd with the subject line of “Trailblazer” to be entered into our monthly prize drawing. Feeling adventurous? Great, we’ll let you have up to three different entries!

You must be a Montana University System Insured Plan member to participate.
Where is the July log for fruit? I must have missed it. Thanks.
