Montana Meals February Challenge:  Eat Smart for Your Heart!

February is American Heart Month, and to celebrate, Montana Meals is challenging you to include at least one Heart Healthy food per day in your diet and track it. A heart healthy diet includes lots of colorful fruits, veggies, and high fiber foods, and limits sodium, saturated fats and trans fats. While no single food can prevent heart disease, the following is a list of foods that research has shown to be particularly beneficial to heart health. Incorporate at least one of the following foods into your diet for 25 out of 28 days in February to successfully complete this challenge!

  • Oatmeal
  • Citrus fruits
  • Salmon or Tuna
  • Beans
  • Berries
  • Barley
  • Tomatoes
  • Bananas
  • Sweet Potato
  • Green Tea
  • Apples
  • Walnuts or Almonds

Download your February Log here, and send to wellness@montana.edu with the subject February Meals or fax to 406-994-2391 by March 3rd to be eligible for our monthly drawing.
