Activity challenges have always been a key component of our Wellness program, and I just wanted to take a moment to recognize some awesomeness.
We just wrapped up a summer team step challenge, where we challenged teams of 4 to 6 employees to amass 1,250,000 steps. Our Top 20 teams collectively walked 60 million steps! Amazing! Here are the teams topping the Leaderboard at the end of the challenge. Congrats to MSU Engineering, who walked over 3.6 million steps. WooHoo!
Personally, I was proud that Team MUS Wellness cracked the Top 20 and the 3 million step mark. We try to practice what we preach over here!
One final stat. Collectively, individual participants in this challenge walked 228 million steps! Incidentally, Mars is 228 million miles from the Sun. My point being, 228 million is a lot. We hear all the time how sedentary we are as a society, but we’re proving that this isn’t always the case. Way to go MUS!
And it’s not over! Currently our “climbing teams” are on their way up the virtual slopes of Mt. Everest, and our next individual challenge will kickoff around the start of the fall semester with a step challenge sponsored by MSU President Waded Cruzado.
We believe that healthy behaviors translate into healthy outcomes, so it’s very refreshing to see healthy behaviors play out in fun ways for our employees. Keep up the great work everyone!
